MOOC watch: Closing readiness gap (Australian Financial Review)

US MOOC provider edX has launched into the high school market announcing 32 free online courseswhich are intended to “close the readiness gap between high school and college”. The subject areas covered include maths, science, English and history. Some of the courses push further than the standard high school curriculum, called advance placement (or AP) classes in the US. edX CEO Anant Agarwal said in a blog post that 150,000 of edX’s learners were high school students and that they could use the new MOOCs to prepare for exams and explore new subjects.
