Sunoikisis is excited to announce its 2017 course in translation! The course topic will be Herodotus’ Histories.
A course planning weekend for Sunoikisis-Herodotus will be held at the Center for Hellenic Studies in Washington, DC on November 12, 2016. During this weekend, faculty will work collaboratively to design and craft the course which will then be offered to students in the spring semester of 2017.
Arrivals for the planning weekend will be on Friday, November 11 and departures will be Sunday, November 13. Housing will be available both on the CHS campus as well as off campus in a hotel.
If you are thinking about joining us that weekend, are thinking about offering the course, or have any questions at all, please contact Ryan Fowler via our contact form for more information.
Sunoikisis has been offering inter-institutional spring courses in translation for the last three years: so far, one on the Iliad, one on the Odyssey, and one on Greek Drama, specifically Euripides. These courses draw from the method and materials found in Gregory Nagy’s HeroesX course.
More information can be found on the Courses in Translation page.
As a point of reference, faculty from the following institutions offered the 2015 Sunoikisis-Odyssey course: Agnes Scott College, Carthage College, Concordia College, Howard University, Southwestern University, University of Findlay, University of Maryland, and Warren Wilson College.
